If any of you have middle school and high school libraries combined, how do you handle the issue of appropriateness of materials for the younger student? Is this a big issue? We have a 6-12 conbo library and it is not an issue at all. Long before I arrived the system was that all MS books got a hot pink YA label on the spine. We're are using them less now, because the older kids wouldn't dream of taking any of those out (unlike at the public library where YA means high school). Moslty I guide the 5's and 6's to those but they are the Gordon Korman, Avi, Creech books rather than Philip Pullman, Lois Duncan, Jacques type. Hope that helps. Maureen S.
