Recently I read an article about a public librarian who works with middle school students to develop their visualization skills. I emailed her for information about the program and am working with a special ed. reading teacher to develop our own program for high school students. Has anyone out there done anything like this? Maybe you have incorporated graphic novels instead of picture books? There was a fascinating article in School Library Journal years ago about the reasons why many young people hate to read - one was that many have never developed the necessary visualization skills and don't "see a movie" when they read. I'd love to be able to enable them to enjoy reading more! Any help would be appreciated! Tish Carpinelli Media Specialist Lower Cape May Regional H.S.
