MOVIE: Great Expections - 1998

I just rented the DVD for the recent (1998) remake of "Great
Expections" with Anne Bancroft and Peter DeNiro.  WOW.. they
made an incredibly romantic modernization of the original
book.  Maybe because the book holds a special place in my
heart (which I can't explain) but I was thoroughly taken by
the movie.  Unfortunately it is rated R so one can't use it
to spur a reading of the Dickens book by your students.  But
maybe if you rent the movie, it will inspire you to read the
original book again.
