I have mixed feelings about animals in a library of any kind. I am a professional animal (dog/cat) handler as well as being a librarian. First, all animals bring bacteria, even under the best of circumstances. We would be exposing patrons to things you may not know about. The thought of any animal being handles by a myriad to people is not fair to the animal. Also, all animals have the potential of activating allergents and asthma reactions. There is also the issue of insurance. Fish tanks, large and elevated, may be the only thing that may be appropriate in any library. But, they need to be kept very clean and the fish, very healthy. Good luck.
