You may have seen the latest issue of Knowledge Quest (March/April issue) with its theme of Student Voices. In this issue, Dr. Ross Todd and Dr. Carol Kuhlthau have an article called, "Listen to the Voices: Ohio Students Tell Their Stories of School Libraries." I think you'll really enjoy reading some of the many student observations we received in the Student Learning Through Ohio School Libraries research study. At this time of the year when you might wonder if you had an impact or made a difference, treat yourself to some reassurance. I also want to repeat a post I made a few months ago. OELMA (The Ohio Educational Library Media Association) has taken the Ohio Research Study one step further by working with Dr. Todd to develop a professional staff development module called "Can you Find the Evidence-based Practice in your School Library?" Dr. Todd, himself, will be in Ohio on July 20th and 21st to present the one-day workshop. Enrollment is open to all school librarians and we would be delighted to see some librarians from our neighboring states at the workshop. The workshop will be held in the Dayton area and all the information is available online at http://www.oelma.org/professional/2005Institute.asp . I'm more than happy to answer any questions, also. Registration is open until July 1, 2005. Dr. Todd is a delightful speaker and I know you will enjoy spending a day with him, if you are able to come to one of our one-day workshops. We did a "trial run" of this workshop at our annual conference last fall and it was very well received in the evaluations. It's one of those things that empowers you and gives you an opportunity to gather information about your work. If you want to turn your learning adventure into a little family summer-fun time, Dayton is home to the National Air Force Museum. http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/ . And, I'm a little partial to the Dayton Art Institute, an amazing art museum for a city the size of Dayton.
