I have found that despite my best intentions, our white board really just
functions as a projection screen. It's occassionally used for its
interactivity, but not that much. Truthfully, I would spend the money for
the training for yourself and a core group of potential users. I just
never learned to use it to its full potential! I know it can do so much
more than be a projection screen, but aside from demonstrating websites,
playing games, I don't know what to do with it.

You might also consider an Interwrite Schoolpad. It's a wireless device
that allows teachers to engage their students from anywhere in the
classroom and turns any surface into an interactive whiteboard. You can
project computer images on any surface and use the School Pad to write
notes, highlight key points or control any application. I saw it
demonstrated at a conference last spring. I like that you can be anywhere
in the room to use it instead of right in front of the board where you are
either blinded by the projector or blocking some part of the screen.
