Hello, LM-netters! I am hoping that some of you have information about how you were able to request and receive an aide or assistant. I am in an elementary school library with a student population of less than 350, but we're rapidly approaching that number. The other schools with comparitive populations in the district have paraprofessionals with the media specialist in the library. This is my first year at this school, and I absolutely love it! However, I have been told that in the past, the media specialists before me had also asked for full or part time help and were just given a schedule with a paraprofessional for an hour or so a day (which is what we're doing now). Has anyone in this situation been able to secure an assistant? There is so much need for it here, as I have great ideas and want to collaborate, decorate, teach classes, make webquests, etc., but now I am spending a majority of my time shelving books and checking them in. These kids circulate materials like wildfire! The shelving cart overfloweth! I will post a hit of responses. Thanks, M.Davis Media Specialist Comer Elementary Comer, GA bluehilda@hotmail.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
