Wendy, Check the lm_net archives for previous threads about bulletin boards. I think you'll find some helpful information. I have a book called Off the Wall by Gayle Skaggs (isbn 0786401168). It would be perfect for elementary libraries. I have to adapt it a bit for the high school. For example, my March bulletin board says "It takes more than just good luck to make good grades. Use your library!" I have a green background and shamrocks. I also have a special display of books by Irish authors, info about the authors, and a Irish literature trivia worksheet that I found online. It won't be as overwhelming as you might imagine. You can always use library or reading quotes as a basis for your board each month. There are lots of hits in the archive with quotes. I also think that the calendar posts each month on LM-Net, February is...March is.... would be a great source of ideas. Or you could feature a different staff member (make your own READ poster) and their favorite quotes about reading, favorite books through the years, current book they are reading, what they like best about reading, their favorite genre and build a genre board around it, etc. The movie Hoot will be released in April. You might still be able to get a free poster from Walden Media. (http://www.walden.com/web/teach/home ) You could do an eco-themed board around the movie & book. Also, with spring break around the corner for many of us, you could do a vacation reading suggestion list. Good luck and have fun!
