I have a fourth grader who read The SOS Files (a collection of short, mostly funny stories) months ago and loved it. Almost every week since then he's asked if we have any other books like it. I found a Random House collection of funny excerpts from longer books and he read that - I thought he might find a chapter he liked and be inspired to read the entire book, but he's still asking for books like The SOS Files. He's read Wayside School ... I showed him Rutabaga Stories but he doesn't want it ... I feel like a bad librarian, especially after today when he said "That's OK - I'll just watch TV every night until 10:00 ... " help!
