I travel between 3 elem. buildings. I have aides that take the classes when I'm not in their building. (Library is prep time for the teachers) We are just in the process of starting classroom literacy libraries. I have not been included in this program as far as the planning, but have heard bits and pieces, how money is going to be given to each classroom to purchase books for their rooms. That the goal is to have 1,000 plus books in each classroom. My total budget for all three schools is about 7,000.00, for about 1200 students. Today the principals have asked me to give up my storage and office spaces to create a guided reading room!! Does anyone have experience with the leveled reading literacy program that might clue me in on what might be next? I'm starting to think that they may eliminate my position and keep the aides for book selection. TIA Deborah McLaughlin Harbor Creek School Dist.
