No I am not bringing up the furor over SISTERS but her current children's book she was trying to promote on CNN during the furor. The back cover of OUR FIFTY STATES by Mrs. Cheney has a picture of her surrounded by 5 children of seemingly mixed heritage. The text of the bio below tells that she has 5 grandchildren. The assumption is that the pictured youngsters are her grandchildren. I wondered if some were adopted so I researched a bit and in a bio of her daughter Elizabeth it was stated that she has 3 girls and 2 boys as pictured, but since the boys were born in July of 2004 and July of 2006 they could not be the pictured boys. Are any of these children related to her and if not why are they in the picture? Is this misrepresentation? Should I care? I know I wouldn't notice if another author did likewise but when a public figure/celebrity puts out a book then we tend to look at it a little differently. At the risk of bringing up politics on LM_NET I am putting this out there to librarians for what its worth. Cheryl A. Sturgeon Elem.
