To my esteemed colleagues; I will be doing a session at an upcoming conference concerning MARC records. One question I know will come up concerns the call number field specifically why MARC records don't come with the call number we use. I know that the call number field depends on your system and that LOC uses 082 for the "official call number". http://www.itsmarc.com/crs/Bib1468.htm#List_050_099 What I want to have are some numbers showing to what extent there is a "standard" across the automation systems.
