Librarians and reading specialists can work together to an end result--building a nation of readers. Both experts teach learners how to find books challenging to their level and how to think about and interpret what's being read. Additionally, librarians strive to provide an inviting environment where readers will join together to share what they are reading. Librarians ignite the flame in *E for Everyone* to want to read, to take an adventure through the pages of a book, and to explore the world through reading. It's about radiating enthusiam, keeping up-to-date materials, offering a warm and inviting open-door policy, and marketing what's in the collection. That's an enormous day-to-day task for the librarian. What's great is when the reading specialist and the librarian collaborate together to equip the learner with the necessary tools to comprehend and enjoy what they are reading. A 21st Century tool that lets everyone communicate and discuss reading is the wiki. Here's one I started last year. Take a look! Maybe you have recently read a book appropriate for young adults that you could share. You are welcome to add this information at http://booktalk.pbwiki.com. Let me know if you would like to edit this wiki, I will send you the login. -- Carol VanHook Teacher Librarian SE POLK SR HIGH PLEASANT HILL IA vanhookc@se-polk.k12.ia.us http://booktalk.pbwiki.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
