Hi all,

I was contacted by the public educator for the Pike Township Fire
Department. They are hosting a children's safety event. They asked me for
information and a contact for someone who could host a booth on Internet
safety. Here are the specifics:

> Our festival is on October 6, 2007 from 11:00-3:00. In case of rain, the
> festival will be held on Oct. 7. It will take place at Intech Park, which is
> on the northwest side of Indianapolis, at I-465 and 71st Street. Booth set up
> begins at 9:00 on the day of the festival.

I have sent this woman my new parent and teen handbooks (will be on my site
soon) and told her that I would try to find someone from the region who
could help run this booth. I told her I knew great library and ed tech
folks. I figure this would be a good school-community relations activity for
some of you.

What I suggested was that the best approach would be to have teens, probably
high school students, in the booth to talk with parents. I think it is time
that we help let parents know that many teens have figured a lot of the
safety issues out and really are trying to make good choices. And I really
am into youth empowerment.

So if any of you are from this community and would like to help with this.,
please contact me privately and I will get you connected.

Nancy
