I've replied to this question more than once but I did not "Reply All" so maybe
this will reach others who have questions.

We have 2 Flip Video cameras and 1 RCA Small Wonder. I love them. They have taken
the place of our other miniDV camcorders. We were constantly having issues with the
miniDV tapes becoming damaged and unusable! We are a MAC school too (do not like
them) and our Tech Dept had to add a file to allow downloading. If any of you want
more details about what our Tech dept did, please email me and I will try to pass
that info on to you from the Tech dept. On my office PC (have to have Windows for
many reasons - MACs will not run so many Internet and other software programs) the
Flip Video and RCA work beautifully. You are right, I like the RCA better because
of the tripod and the self-recording capability and because it has an SD Memory
Card so we can save up to 5 hours of video. One of our teachers received a math
award in Washington DC last year and she took it with her to video the experience.
"Worked great!", she said. By all means buy rechargeable batteries because they
will eat up the AAs in no time. The rechargeables seem to last pretty long without
recharging. These cameras are constantly improved so do some research and check out
the reviews before you buy. They are heavily discounted too. We are rather limited
because we have to have a purchase order so we had to get special permission to buy
them from Amazon. I'm not suggesting Amazon is the place to go because I'm sure
there are other vendors that have better deals. Do your homework and maybe other
LM_NETters will have ideas! We were in a rush when we bought ours so Amazon was
about the only place we could find them.

Here is a comparison video review from schoollibraryjournal.com.
