Dear LM_NETters: I appeal for your help on behalf of the elementary librarian in our district Her principal apparently has just now discovered that lower level fiction books sometimes contain language and pictures that he personally does not approve of. He asks her to remove them from the shelves, even though a book may have several positive reviews. She has enlisted several teachers to preview next year's award nominees for objectionable content so that she may return those to the vendor before they are processed. As abhorrent as this situation is, she would like to know if a parental rating group exists for books such as exists for movies. If you know of one, please respond to me directly. I apologize in advance for stirring the fire.
