I have a group of 5th graders who are having a terrible time figuring out what keywords are. We have gone over it several times but I still have students picking out "what" or "where" or "biggest" or "tallest". Does anyone have a good lesson for teaching keywords or main ideas. These kids are getting great scores on tests but don't seem to have good higher order thinking skills. (Thank you NCLB.)
