Friday, I was requested to join in on a meeting with the principal, vice principal, counselor, with several professors for a local college to discuss plans for developing a cooperative program with them for career development. We are an inner-city school with five college campuses nearby. The principal’s vision is to educate these children (and their parents) at a young age as to the opportunities out there for them so that as they mature they may not go the way of drugs and gangs which is in place as they get into junior high (we don’t do middle school). Does anyone have ideas as to how the media center could play a role in elementary career development? The 6th graders take an interest inventory. There are a couple of subscription sites that are available. I want to purchase more career books but the principal seems to want more. Please help! I’m sorry I didn’t get to you sooner. If you reply on Monday, please send to my school e-mail: HYPERLINK "mailto:rrchandler@spart7.org"rrchandler@spart7.org. Thanks in advance for any and all ideas!
