With resources like www.wwitv.com , and increased picture quality of TV
over the Internet, I see in the future much less power held by today's
networks cable companies as far as television news transmission goes.
Hopefully this will be a good thing because most people are interested
in the news and NOT the "million dollar celebrity" of the person that
reads the teleprompter. With high resolution monitors having VGA
inputs, every library media center, and home, in my opinion, should look
towards designating a computer to "tune in" streaming TV stations and
video resources from around the world. And further, it will be
interesting to see this new kind of news media emerge - can you imagine
a regional newsroom and studio in your basement? It is perfectly
possible and quite probable that these kinds of operations will emerge
and organize. I for one will be very happy to see the demise of the
corporate news media as we know it. Is this not already occurring in
print media? This can unleash very powerful and positive change in our
lives.
