Many thanks to all who offered suggestions for children's books in French!! Here is my original post: I am looking for favorite children's books published in either French or French and English. If you have suggestions of where I could buy these materials, please let me know! I am going to Haiti the first week of April to host a workshop for teachers and would like to take books written in a language in which they are familiar. I will post a hit. Thank you! I know French books published in Canada ( for Quebec ) often have different colloquialisms, and vocabulary, than French books from France. On Amazon.com, go to Books and then to Advanced Search...one of the options is to search for books in a particular language. I found a couple Dr. Seuss books in my test search with it. Just double-check on the book's actual page that the language is French before you order. Your local Borders or Barnes & Nobles might have a few titles - I've found them occasionally in the children's section. If you contact your Scholastic rep, you might be able to get several titles from them. I have found whole cases of French titles when I go to my local Scholastic warehouse sales. Also, you might still have enough time to order from amazon.fr. I bought mine off of Ebay. Try Scholastic Canada... they have a lot of books in French. http://www.scholastic.ca/editions/ <http://www.scholastic.ca/editions/> I have a collection that I started with books at the Louvre book shop. I added it to it with books from Amazon.com. Many American stories are in French now. One of my favorites is Bon Soir Lune. Another is Madeleine. My kids in school loved them. You might try E-Bay. They seem to have quite a few foreign-language books. You might also try ordering from Amazon in France. If you search by author, rather than title, you can pull up French translations of things like E.B. White's Charlotte's Web. With a credit card you can buy online. www.amazon.fr <http://www.amazon.fr> How about COntinental Books at http://www.continentalbook.com/ <http://www.continentalbook.com/> The obvious le petit prince ... Look at shens.com. These are old but kids still like Astérix, Lucky Luke etc. You can get Harry Potter in French. Try Follett's Titlewave and search in French -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
