Perhaps it is easier for those of us in smaller schools. I begin checkout to staff the first day of inservice (or earlier if they catch me in the library). Student checkout begins the first day of school for students. Yesterday (our first day with students), at the end of day 1 I had checked out books to PK, Gr. 1,3, 4,5. Today will cover Gr. 2 and Kinder. Gr. 4 & 5 will not have library until Friday, so I arranged with the teachers to have the class visit for 10 minutes and check out 1 book. This allows the classroom teacher to begin with their silent reading times right away. In the Middle/High School Library Gr. 6,7,8 usually also visit on the first day. Students there should be carrying a book with them at all times so that when work is done in any class they can read. -- Anne Oelke Library Media Specialist pK-12 Cambria-Friesland School District Cambria, WI mailto:cflibrary@cf.k12.wi.us -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
