Harry, and All, I apologize for the broken link to the Colorado District Judge Decision PDF. I will have my web master re-create the link. Here it is http://www.eff.org/files/filenode/Huntsman_v_Soderbergh/CleanFlicksDistCtOpinion.pdf Also, on my web page there are a few additional links, including this one that has the $64,000 question about whether it is legal to use "cleaned" or "washed" movies. An editorial comment is on one of those provider's sites here http://jennifermaydole.com/copyright_schools.html http://www.clean-edited-movies.com/ Lastly, I do have an opinion about whether it is illegal to use a a legally "washed" movie under the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2005. I agree with copyright attorney Arnold Lutzker (http://www.lutzker.com/our/index.html )that the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2005 doesn't say that you cannot personally edit movies of offensive material, then under Fair Use use it in the classroom as long as it is written into the curriculum to support a core concept in the curriculum. So, in my opinion it is ok, as long as it meets the Fair Use criteria. Again, my apologies for the broken link. I will try to get it fixed today. Jennifer Jennifer S. I believe this site was operating in defiance to that court order...and as you can see is shutting down tomorrow. See the link regarding details of the court case on my web page.... The only version we can find, which stars Robert De Niro and Cuba Gooding, is rated R, and our history teacher is reluctant to use it in class even though he has obtained written permission from almost all his students' parents.
