About 3 weeks ago, the Center for Digital Literacy at Syracuse University surveyed LM_NET subscribers. We asked "In a publication that will provide 100 lesson plan examples, we are interested in determining where to place the greatest emphasis (which standards)." About 325 responses were received. Standards were rank ordered in terms of where the greatest perceived need is (chart attached). The results are as follows: Most Examples Needed: Standard 1--Inquire, think critically, and gain knowledge (52.8%). Many Examples Needed: Standard 2 --Draw conclusions, make informed decisions, apply knowledge to new situation, and create new knowledge (48.5%). Some Examples Needed: Standard 3 - Share knowledge and participate ethically and productively as members of our democratic society (63.4%). Least Examples Needed: Standard 4: Pursue personal and aesthetic growth (70.5%). We wanted to share these results with you. Thank you for participating. The information will be used to guide the development of a free online publication with more than 100 model lesson plans created by library media specialists around the country. The publication will be available through the Center for Digital Literacy web site (http://digital-literacy.syr.edu) and S.O.S. for Information Literacy (http://www.informationliteracy.org) in mid 2010.
