That is, your state school library associations - probably the same
stuff every year and frankly, hardly worth attending.  Sometimes these
gatherings can be statewide complaintfests with a legislative lobby
component that just makes for more stagnation and status quo in school
libraries.   Set your sites on two things bigger, more worthwhile and
eye opening.  Attendance can help lead your school towards a more global
mindset.  Ask for time off for these, and if you must, pay for them in
part yourselves:
