Good morning! I have been faced with a challenge this morning and I'm hoping for some advice. Our 6th grade special ed. teacher sent his students down with the specific instruction that they must check out a book at their AR reading level. Unfortunately, some of their levels were so low that we had no books for them. These kids had reading levels from 0.6-2.3. The best I could do for them was the R.L. Stine Rotten School series which has reading levels between 2.9 and 3.9. Does anybody have books with such low reading levels? I suspect even picture books would have a higher level than this. The sad thing is that some of these kids do enjoy reading graphic novels or other high interest books, but their faces fell when they found out that those had a higher level than they were "allowed" to read. Believe me, I plan to have a talk with the teacher during his prep, but has anyone else faced a situation like this?
