EXCUSE ME!!!!!

The objective is to keep middle school students OFF of the social networking
sites until they are the age where they can register - which is 13. This is
an outrageous idea for a middle school. Facebook and MySpace do not want
these young people until they are 13. So you are teaching them it is okay to
lie about your age online. Not good.

ALL schools need to have their own web 2.0-like system. You can use this to
develop a professional community for teachers. You can easily create library
pages that students can access through the Internet. Each student needs
their own "profile" or storage area on this system so they can start a
project at school, work on it in the library, then access it from home to
complete it - and then send it via email to their teacher. It would be nice
if this system also allowed students to send their work produce to a blog or
a wiki - where students could collaborate.

Teachers should not "friend" students on the entertainment social networking
sites. This may create liability for the school if you failed to see
something - like a threat or suicidal thoughts.
