I'm a new Media Specialist this year, although I've taught in the classroom for 17 years. I am getting ready to begin teaching the Dewey Decimal System to my 3rd graders, along with reteaching it to the 4th and 5th graders. I am getting Toni Buzzeo's book and I have her powerpoint presentation, but I need more than that. I really have no idea where to begin! Can anyone please send me some ideas? I don't like doing worksheets unless I feel they are useful; I am more interested in hands-on activities. Also, youtube is blocked at my school. Any suggestions as to how to introduce & teach Dewey would be much appreciated!
