All: Let me get this straight. There are parents that feel they have the right to "Opt Out" of an address by the President of the United States? They are acting as if it is some sort of R rated movie. What kind of civics lesson is that? I don't think this had ever happened before. I mean we have just come off of 8 years of George Bush and I can never remember being offered the option of my some watching one of his talks. It is profoundly troubling that any librarian/teacher anywhere would support such a thing. I wonder if there is any connection: First African American Pres. first opt out option in schools to listen to a presidential speech. The good news for me is that of all the emails on the subject I read, only one Teacher/Librarian seems to support this sort of thing.
