[LM_NET] Story of a monkey & bakery

Hello LM_NET community,

    I am wondering if anyone is familiar with a story about a monkey
(possibly an organ grinder's monkey) that breaks into a bakery and eats
too many of the baked goods?  This was a favorite story of mine as a
child, and I cannot recall the title.  It might have been set in
"Tarrytown."  I have searched in vain for this book many different ways,
and am hoping somebody might have a suggestion.
