At the risk of overflowing my email box, I would like to put a question to you all.
I am revising our Best Books for the College Bound. However, as I perused other
lists I found that most of them go with the traditional "classics." While I realize
the importance of these works, I have also decided that students in this day are
interacting with a much wider group of people than we did and I thought that in
addition to those which cover Western literature I would also like to include books
that have insight into other cultures and to experiences other than their own (or
perhaps their own.) I have cut some of the classics and added books such as Things
Fall Apart, The Kite Runner, The Book Thief, Ghosts of War, etc. If you feel like
it I would love to hear your top five books to be included in this list. Thank you.
