Thank you, Sue! I love doing this kind of stuff. The challenge is doing it free or very cheap. : ) I can't believe I hadn't discovered this before, but in Word you just click Insert-- Clip Art-- and do a search for a single letter and it will bring up all kinds of decorated versions of that one letter. So I found a snow covered letter for each one I searched for. There are a lot more I plan to use-- Donna Van Cleve, Librarian Farley Middle School Hutto, TX www.donnavancleve.com ________________________________ From: Susan Reichard <sreichard@troyareasd.org> To: Donna Van Cleve <donna_vancleve@YAHOO.COM> Sent: Wed, January 6, 2010 5:33:16 AM Subject: RE: January Bulletin Boards Donna, Thanks for sharing, I love your ideas! How did you create the word "chill"? Sue Reichard Troy Middle School Librarian King and High Sts. You think they're just sitting at the desk, all quiet and everything. They're like plotting the revolution, man. I wouldn't mess with them." M. I use what I have on hand at the school. Through the years I've collected stuff from family, friends, the side of the road (& I used to get way too excited on garbage days-- you would not believe what people throw away around here! I'm in recovery now, though), and I just recycle and re-use stuff. I just posted January's Chill with a Good Book display. I picked up an IKEA loft bed someone was throwing away in my daughter's neighborhood a couple of years ago, and that is what I design the window displays around. http://blog.donnavancleve.com/ One of my favorites is from last year - an underwater scene in the loft bed: http://blog.donnavancleve.com/search?updated-max=2009-04-21T04%3A46%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=7 Click on the pictures to get a closer view of the coral-- wadded up paper. "Get your mitts on a good book" with book cover pictures glued onto large paper mittens (love the Ellison die cutter). In the elementary we did "Warm up with a good book" with the same mitten idea. We just borrowed a new set for the Ellison which has a bee and a hive---so this spring I think I'll do "Get BZZZY with books" or "Buzz in for a sweet read". -- Anne Oelke Library Media Specialist pK-12 Cambria-Friesland School Dst.
