An interesting study, but I see a flaw in it. I don't see anything about previous experience with either an Ipad or Kindle, but we can assume prior experience with reading on paper. I think there is a novelty effect here of learning to read with a new device. Based on my own experience, I would say that my reading speeds now are comparable for print and Kindle, but the Kindle was definitely slower at first.
