Thanks for all the replies. Several also suggested some books in addition to
magazines, so I included those as well. Thanks! :)

Somebody asked for information on magazines like Scooby Doo that are popular
with the kids a little bit ago, butI wasn't looking at periodicals yet so I
didn't respond. We have Scooby Doo andthe kids love it. Others I have found
that look to be similar:

Looney Tunes Magazine and SuperFriends Magazine, both published by DC comics.

Disney Princess Magazine

Shonen Jump Magazine. I'm still on thefence about this one. It is aimed at
teens, but it is an anthology of JapaneseManga that the kids are always asking
for like Yu-Gi-Oh, Dragon Ball Z, etc. Iwish I could look through one to see
what it is like.

Hope this helps! Rob

Bone is a graphic novel, but it's verygood for the age range you want, you
could also do SPider-man (Some of them),Garfiled, Peanuts, There are graphicn
ovles of the HArdy Boy, Nancy Drew, andnumerous classical books (info on
graphicclassics.com). Good luck

Tiny Titans is really cute. You can get an anthology that collectsthem. You
could also try MiniMarvels. Some other popular series of comics and graphic
novels are: Owly byRunyon, Johnny Boo, Jellaby, Baby Mouse.

I would definitely recommend theBabymouse series by Jennifer and Matthew Holm,
the Babysitters Club graphicnovels by Ann M. Martin. I also have Marvel comics,
and I cannot keep them onthe shelves. The boys absolutely love them.

Binky the Space Cat

The Storm in the Barn

Amelia Rules

and some others (can't check theshelves for you right now, I'm snowed in).

I think introducing elementary schoolstudents to comics is a great thing.
There are many wonderful storiesbeing told in this format that they should
look for as they grow up. Goodluck building your collection!

Carl, Isubscribed to 2 sets of comic books, Justice League of America and DC
Comicspresents Superman, and they are never checked out. I thought the
popularity ofmanga and the other graphic books I had warranted the
subscriptions butevidently not. I am still trying to promote them with the
students that checkout the hardbacks of Fantastic Four and Superman I have but
it has been slowgoing.

I suggest yousurvey your students or just purchase a handful first to see if
they will checkthem out.

the 3rd and 4th grade. There's also one called"Bone", I believe.
