Thanks, Liz and Group, I forwarded the message that arrived earlier on LM_NET to my brother who is head of the sonography department at the UofA in Little Rock (see his message below Liz's original message). He liked the reference for evaluating web sites so much that he recommended it be incorporated into the symposium they have planned for online teaching/learning in July. You are correct, Liz, we all seem to be dealing with the same sorts of problems at all levels. (Even us retired folk need to know this.) Interesting to read that even Harvard Medical recognizes that many of their students don't know how to search their medical databases effectively and in many cases, don't know they exist! I never cease to be surprised at how similar our problems are at all levels, Enjoy! http://harvardmagazine.com/2010/05/gutenberg-2-0 Gutenberg 2.0 [Harvard Magazine] > ................................................................ > Library Link of the Day > http://www.tk421.net/librarylink/ (archive, rss, subscribe options) ********************** This came from my retired librarian sister. Jan does the TwT have any guidelines for students to critically evaluate web sites and information? This might be a good topic for the "The Teaching with Technology Symposium" in July. I hope I can get back for it. http://www.lesley.edu/library/guides/research/faculty_checklist.html http://www.lesley.edu/library/guides/research/evaluating_web.html It also should be incorporated into syllabi. I am grading term papers today, and there are more and more URLs referenced and fewer and fewer books and journals. Terry J.
