I had many requests to share information on my question of a daily news
posting on the internet or other resources. Thanks to all that replied!
Many respondents are using America On-Line or dial up services. I am
reprinting the two more interesting responses below.

Are you familiar with X-Press X-Change? It is comprised of software (IBM
or Mac), and a modem-type piece of equipment that hooks into the cable tv
line. In the Omaha area, schools receive the software and equipment free
through Cox Cable, TCI Cable, or any of the other cable companies. The
system enables users to continuously download information from the wire
services. You can also get stock quotations throughout the day. It's a
wonderful addition to our media center; during March Madness students
were stopping in to get the latest scores each afternoon. During the
election last year, students were printing out articles each day on the
three presidential candidates. The customer service number is
1-800-HELPOUT.

We are delighted with the Dow Jones/New Retrieval Service which brings us
up to the minute information on many topics. Educational pricing is
$150/month. The AP Newswire, stock quotes (current and historical),
weather information, the Official Airline Guide, sports information of
all sorts, etc. are available all day long - with no search strategy to
intimidate. Very powerful and very comprehensive resource. Not really a
newspaper on line - but tons of information of every sort ------
including an encyclopedia.
