Sorry, I don't have the original New Yorker >citation on my copy. I too don't have the original citation available. But I had to add some comments about this cartoon. It was brought to my attention by members of my staff who have labeled me the "Internet maven" in our school as I am introducing students and staff to the Internet on an increasing basis. They surprised me with a framed copy of the cartoon in which they added a nameplate on the desk. On the nameplate was my name of course. The cartoon has double importance for us inasmuch as the artist is married to one of our science teachers who is eager to get started navigating ASAP. Some of our students are convinced that it sort of was done with me in mind.
