Can anyone tell me something about Scholastic Network?

It's coming to our District soon.  I would like to be prepared :-).

Opinions and uses would be appreciated.

How does it compare to an internet connection through a host University that
provides full internet access and services?

Does it allow you to telnet? gopher? ftp? archie? etc.
