Dear LM_NETTERS, I am forwarding this message from a colleague and hope that you will be able to forward it to teachers using the block schedule. Thank you in advance for your help. Terry Young <tyoung@mcrel.org> I am interested in getting information concerning teacher concerns, problems with, new strategies, utilization of additional time and any other ideas etc. related to block time. Do teachers teach differently? Is it same-o same-o, just longer. Has integrated teaching/learning occurred or is this just a way to teach less students a day and cover a year in half a year? If the latter is true, has it made any difference in student learning. Liking the schedule and learning at higher levels of cognition and achievement are different issues from rearranging time. What's different about block teaching and learning? Any information based on your own personal experience or con- versations you have had with other teachers would be helpful Your comments would be appreciated to: Joan Grady, Mid-continent Regional Educational Laboratory, 2550 South Parker Road, Suite 500, Aurora, Colorado 80014 or jgrady@mcrel.org
