your list of topics is great; I try to focus on new stuff, trends, once in a while I cite some research, and I always write about what kids and teachers are doing with technology. My most important rule is brevity. I use big print, lots of white space, and limit what I write to something people can read on their way from their mailbox to the wastebasket.
