From: "OS361062@WVNVAXA.WVNET.EDU" "CRAIG BLURTON" 1-AUG-1994 12:55:03.45 Subj: Positions Announced JOB ANNOUNCEMENTS Wheeling Jesuit College NASA Classroom of the Future Program The Wheeling Jesuit College is filling positions in its NASA Classroom of the Future program, a research and development activity in K-12 math, science, and technology, that designs, develops, and implements curricular products. Positions may begin as soon as October 1, 1994, pending final funding approval. Experience in working in K-12 environments is preferred. SENIOR INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER: Serves as a team leader in developing multimedia instructional materials; assists in field testing, disseminating, and evaluating products. Ph.D. or equivalent required in math, science, curriculum and instruction, or related field. Extensive experience in field required. UNIX PROGRAMMER: Develops Mosaic software using HTML for use on Unix, Macintosh, and PC platforms; trains end users on modules, especially dealing with hardware, software, and communications requirements. Must have a masters degree in computer science or equivalent; a background in development of educational materials using Unix, HTML, HyperCard or related authoring systems; software programming using C and C++; working knowledge of Macintosh, Unix, and PC operating systems; knowledge of TCP/IP telecommunications packages, protocols, drivers, and related hardware devices; and a minimum of three years relevant experience. Interface design experience with educational applications is considered a plus. CURRICULUM WRITER: Conducts background research into specific subject matter. Creates curriculum materials in varying formats: print, audio, or video. Edits curriculum materials prepared for COTF project by other development team members. Assists with design and implementation of teacher training activities focused on COTF educational products. Requires: strong background in K-12 math, science, and/or technology education; masters degree in educational technologies, curriculum and instruction, science, math, or related field is required. INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER: Develops instructional materials. Experience includes: educational telecommunications and technology; math or science instructional experience; and relevant experience in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of K-12 educational materials. Experience in teaching or designing environmental earth science courses is considered a plus. A masters degree is required in Instructional Design (a Ph.D. or equivalent is desirable) or related field. EDUCATIONAL RESEARCHER: Conducts research to include analytical and descriptive studies and surveys; prepares, publishes and presents research findings to local and national groups. Desirable characteristics include a working knowledge of: educational reform initiatives, educational telecommunications, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and instrument design. Requires a Ph.D. or equivalent in educational research or related field.
