Please note that the following is my personal opinion and not an
"official statement" of the LM_NET management :-)

As all of you know, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) is
the key organization representing school library media specialists.
The previous message about the federal legislation and funding for school
library media programs is clear evidence of the crucial role that AASL
plays. I can assure you that there would NOT be any federal funding
without the efforts of AASL and ALA. And, of course, AASL and ALA
provide many other services, conferences, and publications to the field.

I know we sometimes grouse about the high membership fees for
organizations. However, in addition to having a professional
responsibility to belong to one's national association, we must support
an organization that works the halls of government on our behalf.

Those of you who are AASL/ALA members, I salute you. Thanks for your
support.

Those who are not, I urge you to join right away. To do so, call the
AASL office at 1/800-545-2433 ext. 4381.

Regards,

Mike Eisenberg
