In response to Diane's story about the teacher (see below), I suggest you consider creating some kind of Big Six self-help handout for the kids. Start with task definition - asking them to note their project and topic, etc. Then, leave space for brainstorming, etc. The point is, if you can't get the teacher to focus on the process or if you can't arrange to do a lesson for the students, at least you can give them something to help them one on one. I know some library media specialists out there have done similar self-help sheets. Perhaps they can share with Diane and LM_NET. Mike p.s. - Earlier someone mentioned about other books. Bob and I are working on 2 books - the long delayed Helping With Homework, intended for parents, and one aimed at teachers - Learning in the Information Age. Bob is cranking away, and I'm trying to find a little time to work on these. Stay tuned. *==========================================================* | Mike Eisenberg <mike@ericir.syr.edu> | | Professor, School of Information Studies | | Director, ERIC Clearinghouse on Information & Technology | | 4-216 Center for Science and Technology | | Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY 13244-4100 | | Phone: 315/443-4549 Fax: 315/443-5448 | *==========================================================*
