Catcher

Eek!  Catcher in the Rye appeared in 1951 but was actually written well
before that because it was nearly published in 1946.  It's about the
'40s, not the '60s, although what it has to say about the experience
of growing up transcends its own time, of course.  I remember it being
widely read by young people in the early sixties but it's *not* about
that decade!
