I would like to suggest the following be considered in a description: It is of the utmost importance that there is reliable, qualitative documentation that unquestionably shows an integration of the library curriculum with classroom instruction. Specifically, these documents must substantiate the following aspects of a school library media program: 7 teaching of the published library media curriculum, 7 integration of this curriculum with classroom instruction, 7 mastery of library media skills by students, 7 use of instructional technology in the school library media center. I feel that the teaching portion of our job is very often overlooked. In our school district, it has been said that school librarians are not needed. Public librarians can provide the service any student needs. However, public librarians are not teachers and can not teach. Therefore, we keep documents that show this teaching role. kga@umd5.umd.edu, Baltimore, Maryland
