PARTNERS IN PRINT FARNET Stories Now Available Electronically The Federation of American Research Networks (FARNET), in cooperation with the Coalition for Networked Information, collected Internet stories that provide concrete examples of how the network is being used to further research, education, industry and manufacturing, the health services, industry, and more. In February 1993, an international call went out for submission of stories to be published as "51 Reasons to Build the National Information Infrastructure." An article by JODI HORIGAN, CIT, on Internet use during Hurricane Andrew, was one of the stories selected for publication. Another USDA winner was GABRIEL HEGYES, Sustainable Agriculture Network Coordinator, National Agricultural Library. A printed booklet containing all the stories is in progress, and will be sent to Congressional and other decisionmakers to reinforce FARNET's contention that Internet is the logical foundation upon which to build the National Information Infrastructure. "51 Reasons..." is now available on Internet. See Almanac/Gopher Instruction Box for retrieval information. "USA Today" Extension Mention The Fayette County, KY, Extension program on managing finances to avoid bankruptcy drew a mention in the "Across the USA: News from Every State" section of the January 3 issue of "USA Today" newspaper. : : FARNET Stories : : : : via Gopher: URL:gopher://gopher.cni.org 70/Coalition : : FTP Archives(ftp.cni.org)/Coalition Miscellaneous : : Documents (/CNI/documents)/Document "FARNET:61 Reasons : : to Build the National Information..." : : : : via ES-USDA Gopher: gopher@esusda.gov : : Main menu: Select #10 : : Submenu: Select #2 : : Submenu: Select #1 : : Submenu: Select #1 : : Submenu: Select "farnet" : : : : via ftp: URL;ftp//ftp.cni.org/CNI/documents/farnet/ : : stories : :
