Michael--If the furniture is *truly* representing a hazard to students then push for safe furniture and more shelving at a minimum. I cannot understand the refusal to increase budget for library...except trying to save $. Canyou enlist help of the 6th grade teachers and parents? Get some hard facts from INFORMATION POWER and the COLORADO STUDY on the proof of well staffed and bugeted media centers in the education of children. Have you brought out your point of view to the powers that be all along or did you assume they knew the right thing to do and would do it? Sounds to me as though you need to enlist some background help from the other media specialists in the system and teachers and parents. From the sounds of it your district approximates ours in size.
