Recently, I asked: >I teach a basic television course each quarter and include mainly "quick >and dirty" camcorder and simple editing techniques for media specialists >and classroom teachers. Does anyone out there have a recommendation for >very inexpensive editing equipment (for schools with modest budgets) and >for inexpensive software that can be used with available microcomputers >(like the titling software from Broderbund). I would appreciate your help. >Regards... The responses I got were: Gold disk has some computer software for the Mac that is in the $100-$200 price range. Panasonic has a lower end editing system, $4,000 I believe. We have used VCR Companion on an Apple IIGS for titles, etc, with elementary and junior high. We are also going to try to use Hyperstudio on the Mac for titles on our Quadra that has video out jack. I'M A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER IN CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND WE ALSO HAVE TELEVISION PRODUCTION CLASSES. THE SIMPLE EDITING DEVICE WE USE IS THE PANASONIC DIGITAL MIXER WJ-AVE5. GREAT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. IN FACT NEXT YEAR WE ARE GETTING THE MODEL 30. SOME DAY WE TOO WILL GO TO THE EDITING ON COMPUTER BUT UNTIL THEN WE WILL USE WHAT WE CAN. I would be very interested in seeing what responses you had regarding your request. We use a video editor from TASCAM and I am not at all happy with it. There are too many errors and it is not compatible with most VCRs. ********************************************************************* Dr. Ron Trice, Coordinator of Instructional Technology Programs CBX 072, School of Education Georgia College, Milledgeville, GA 31061-0490 Voice: (912) 454-2515 FAX:(912) 453-6582 via GC EduNET, Georgia's Statewide K-12 Education Network, telnet to: gcedunet.peachnet.edu *********************************************************************
