Follett and id cards

Have any of you found it difficult to scan patron cards that have been
laminated? Our wand worked for about 3 months, but now none of the
barcodes are being read. How have you solved this problem> We love the
fact that a student has the same barcode number for 4 years, without the
hassle of a rolodex file. Any suggestions?
