Librarians (and interested parties) -

You've been hearing about the need for librarians to be involved
in the development of the Information SuperHighway. You've probably
been wondering how exactly you might do that. As a start, consider
attending the 30th IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) meeting
in Toronto next month.

Now you might say to yourself, "Self, What would *I* do at an
Engineering Task Force meeting? Wouldn't I be out of my depth?"

My answer to that is a resounding "NO". The IETF is one of the key
groups in development of the Internet. If you want a say in how
things are developed, then you need to be at these meetings where
many of the major players congregate three times a year.

Librarians have important skills in organizaing and delivering
information and are an important block in the Information
Super Highway. The IETF needs to hear from this community in this
forum. Note that the IETF is a working meeting and not a conference
per se. Some of the working groups of interest are: User Documentation,
Training Materials, Uniforn Resource Identifiers, Internet School
Networking, and Integration of Internet Information Resources.

I've included for your convenience the notice of the meeting. Please join
us, and help make a difference.

notification that you are planning on coming. So even though you know
that payment will be delayed for one reason or another, SEND THE RSVP
FORM IN ANYWAY.
