Subject: REVISED National Archives Announcement

This is a revision to information about the National Archives
new e-mailbox posted to a number of listservs last week.
We are re-posting to request researchers to include their
postal address and e-mail address in the text of their
inquiries.  Please forgive any confusion this oversight may
have caused.


The National Archives is pleased to announce the availability of
a general information electronic mailbox service.  The User
Services Division of the National Archives has created a
designated electronic mailbox for the receipt of electronic mail
reference inquiries.  Researchers with specific questions about
the programs and records (except electronic records) in the
custody of the National Archives should send their inquiries to:

          inquire@nara.gov

Users of the inquire@nara.gov service are strongly encouraged to
include both their postal address (surface mail) and their
electronic mail address in the text of their inquiries.
Neglecting to do so may result in delays in responding to
individual requests.

The Center for Electronic Records will continue to receive
reference inquiries about its services and holdings at the
following electronic mail addresses:

          tif@cu.nih.gov or cer@nara.gov

The latter address has only recently been assigned to the Center
as an alternative mailbox for receiving electronic mail reference
inquiries.  Researchers interested in electronic records in the
custody of the National Archives should continue to send their
reference requests directly to us.  If sending requests to
cer@nara.gov, please include an electronic mail address.
